capturing snake in pond

greetings.. we have 2 water snakes (variety unknown) about 1ft & 2ft in our pond. i caught one towing one of my goldfish away this morning. what's the best way to capture these guys; i really need them to go.

i should add that it's doubtful they're poisonous as i managed to free the said "towed" fish and it's still kicking.

I would just use a stick,broomhandle...and take them out of the water on the stick, lower them into a cloth bag of some kind, or a bucket, container, anything. Take them out to a location that would be suitable for the type of snake, and release them.=(Although I don't know what area you live in, so you may have to modify that plan a little).

ya it can't be two hard to get rid of them you could aways pull a crocodile hunter and grab it by the tail if it isnt poisonous

You could use one those long poles with the nets on the end and scoop it up. If it were my pond though I would be bringing in more goldfish for my snakes to eat!

easy enough to catch, and net with a fine screen and deep hold will work. A pond or river area with a food supply and everyone wins. Good luck

tried catching them. the manmade small pond has tons of rocks for them to hide and they are quick. i've set up a minnow trap with some baited goldfish. hope it works. please respond with anymore suggestions. thanks

if you do not have that many goldfish I would remove them to a temp home for their health. Have you tried using a casting net?? Like if you were trying to catch shad for fishing?? Sorry If I am not clear.
