3 Legged, Half-Tailed Peanut

Quick Story:

Awhile ago we bought a female kitten Abyssinian. After several months she came into heat. Normally we have our cats spayed or neutered but we figured this time we would try and breed her. Our intentions were to maybe keep one and sell the rest of them. Well she got pregnant from another pure breed Abyssinian and had 2 kittens, 1 male and 1 female. Unfortunately there was a problem with the male kitten. Apparently the males ambilicle cord was rapped around his leg and when he was born his hind leg was almost completely rotted. On top of that his mother thought his tail was the ambilicle cord and chewed half of it. So at 3 days old he had to have his hind leg amputated and half of his tail cut off. The doctors gave him less than a 50% chance of living due to all the stress this poor guy suffered only days after he was born, and if he did make it through all of this he would'nt live for very long. Well, here he is 8 and a half years later and healthy as a horse. Believe it or not he has no problem walking or jumping. In fact he runs just as fast as our other cats.

As far as his mother and sister well unfortunately his mother passed about 6 years ago due to heart failure and we sold his sister, but obviously could not part with the male(peanut) .

A beautiful Abyssinian, still one of my favourite registered breeds - I just love the ticking on their fur!
Thanks for sharing.

thats so amazing!! that is a beautiful cat, i love the cougar type looks of those cats
thats one of the reasons why i am getting out of breeding cats, i breed registered Munchkins, i had this one litter develope upper respiratory badly, lost half the litter, and i had this one sickly kitten, who refused to die,vet said we should have put him down, but i didn't, i syringed fed him his food and his gatorade....which i swear by, it saved his life, had a cute little orange chin for quite a while, but he was so malnourished and dyhydrated it seemed like no hope and he pulled thru!! while others just seem to have no fight in them at all

A brown cat! I have always wanted a brown cat. They look like little cougers. That's what breed my next cat is going to be! It is great that he gets around so well and has a great life. Cute too.

Wow - what a story! That he can still get around is awesome. I think my next cat will be an Abyssinian too. They're cute.

Wow, lucky guy. It's neat that he's just as fast as your other cats. And wow, he really does look like a cougar, especially in the second pic. Very cute!
