Releasing hatchlings to new owners
For those of you that have bred Leos, at what point are the babies ready to leave home, ie able to handle the stress of traveling/shipping etc. Obviously I want to get them eating first but I'm interested to hear everyone's input on this.

My opinion is about a month old, so that they have put on weight and u know they are eating well. However, I never shipped mine. So maybe someone else will tell u different.

It all depends on who they are goin too for me...If it is some one who knows what they are doing as soon as two weeks old. For some one who has never had loes before around a month for me.

Like colonel said it all depends on the person buying. If there experinced i will sell them after i know there eating a few weeks to a month. If they don't know to much i try to wait until they are 2 or 3 months old.

it depends on how experinced that person was on leos. If the person never had one before i would at least wait till they were a month old. If they know what their doing and have tons of other leos then i would have no problem giving them a 2 week old leo. I personally wouldn't buy a gecko under 2 weeks old. I would want to know that it is eating and that is shed ok.

NEVER!!!!!! LOL Meg, I would wait until the particular gecko looks right, plump and feeding well. Some may be ready at 4 weeks and some may be ready at 8 to 10. It all depends on the little ones... also the more experienced the person is with leos, the more they should understand the conditioning needed for such young animals. Good luck!

I definately agree with the general opinion that it depends on who's buying. I prefer to wait until they are 6 weeks or older, especially if they are to be shipped. Also, it depends on the morph. I like to get a better idea of their adult colors before selling them.

6-8 weeks, by then they are on a great start AND will be more developed in colour, therefore worth a little more.
