What do they look like when they shed?

What do savannahs look like when they shed? Mikey's skin got dull, and now flakes here and there are coming off, mainly on this tail. But the pieces that come off, underneath it is white. Is that normal? Will his whole body flake like that?

Eventually the whole body will shed, and usually does on the tail, all in pieces. Do NOT pull off the shed - as this can be harmful to the lizard or even kill it; let it fall off in pieces...sounds nornal. It will be much brighter when all shed.
good luck,

Whew, good. You put my mind at ease. I thought maybe the flakes were coming off too early and exposing raw skin. It's pure white underneath. Will he be white for a while after he sheds?? haha

k thanks! That makes me feel better. I was worried when I saw the white underneath. Won't that look neat? A white savannah monitor. *prepares camera to take pictures*
