australian water monitor

i was wondering what this monitor looks like is it similiar to the normal water monitors
if anyone has any info i would appreciated

Hi,
It is probably referring to Varanus mertensi...Australia's water monitor. A very sleek, 1.0 meter long varanid; Maybe they are referring to V. indicus, which is also known to Australia, reach 2 meters and also highly aquatic...without more ingo, thats all I can offer here...

According to any pix I've seen,mertensi is virtually patternless and gray. Not really similar to V. salvator in appearance.
Although I agree with Mark,most likely that is what is being described as Australian water monitor.
