Very nice! So whats the story, mild hot or not? I've heard that they do have a rear fang and venome specific for amphibians and I've heard that it is just a tooth designed to deflate frogs so they can be swalloed. Do they have a venome gland or what?
Thanks,
Trevor

No venom glands. More like toxic saliva. Many differing opinions in these guys. As for me, I'd rather not learn how I would react to a bite. Katt has taken a hit once during feeding and it just itched. Although it didn't get a chance to use his rear fangs, so who knows. IMO, it's like bee stings. You react violently or you don't. THey definitely won't kill ya though! And I have yet to hear of someone losing a limb over a w hog.
I treat them with respect during feeding times. They come at anything they see. I've had to remove my rubber coat tipped feeding tongs from a female, after they went down her throat and inch or two. She just wouldn't let go! Aside from their feeding response, they're not a threat in any way. I take mine out to educational shows.

Nice hogs Vanan! I know you have a huge "thing" for them. I love the little guys. I kind of don't want to admit it...........but I still have never seen one. Only in pics. Gotta love 'em.

Aw man! If only our insect colonies were thriving. I'm thinking of letting go of all the remaining T's Tim.

Vanan,
That male looks like a great mate for that pretty girl. I hope they do well for you.
I get a kick out of watching the crazy feeding response of my little guy...when he gets the scent of prey he rushes about with his head and neck raised up and mouth wide open, not really striking but more "lunging" at anything that moves. You don't want to get in his way, LOL!
Cheers!
Simon
