" Ball pythons are among the longest lived of snakes. It would be reasonable to expect lifespans of 20 to 30 years with captive-raised ball pythons. The longest-lived ball python on record is held by a specimen, purchased as a young adult male by renowned herpetologist Roger Conant, which resided in the Philadelphia Zoo from April 26 1945, to October 7, 1992, more then 47 years. This is the longest-lived snake on record (Conant 1993). (de Vosjoli, Klingenberg, Barker, and Barker. p4, the ball python manual, 1995)
