I have a retic and he is about 6.5 ft long and doing great. When he was smaller I would keep him on aspen as it held great humidify and I always get perfect sheds from him. Now that he is bigger it’s a pain because when I get him out, since he is getting heavy, lots of the bedding comes out as well. I love the aspen as it does a great job hiding the smell of his urine even though I clean same day.
To avoid the messs I need to move out. Besides paper towels which I work well what else do you all use?
For my pythons and my King I use a mix of Eco Earth (coco husk) and Repti-bark. It's always worked well for me. Much better than aspen for humidity and odor absorbancy.
Regardless of what you use, when it comes to the big heavy snakes, things are going to get pulled around and out when you bring them out. That being said, cypress mulch is not nearly as fine as aspen and is better for humidity.
I deal with the same issue and sometimes sniper wants to bring his hide with him.. The odd time he wraps his tail around 7 pound rocks too and ttys bringing them out. I use the same bedding as the others have stated. I just pick up the pieces and put it back.
