New Additions, First Hoggie Clutch

Been a while since I stopped in, I've more than doubled my snake collection and have had my first clutch laid! Pretty exciting stuff.

My female Anaconda was paired with my Evans Hypo male and a clutch was laid about 10 days ago now. 11 eggs total but I think there may be a couple that end up slugging out. I'm super new (literally my first clutch ever) to breeding so I'm still learning as I go but I've got an experienced friend helping me out.

I also ended up buying some Hogs from the USA and picked up the first 6 of them last Tuesday. They came from Jeff Clayton in Alabama (Superb fellow, would recommend him to anyone. He was very patient with me).

I don't have pics of all of them as I've been behaving and letting them settle but here's one of the males:

As you can see he's got a solid black eye, which I wasn't expecting. No clue if he's actually Diablo line or somehow related to the recessive black eye morph or if it's just a fluke. I'll likely hold back the first clutch from him and go from there, but not going to worry about that yet. He's a low expression Jaguar het neon toffee. All six hogs ate perfectly for me yesterday (one female almost got my finger in her excitement).

Three more will be arriving probably early May, a PB female het Snow, a triple het male (Albino / Axanthic / Evans Hypo) and a het toffee female. The het toffee female was only feeding on salmon but my friend who's got them currently has managed to get her feeding on half rat pinks. She won't take anything but rats split in half for whatever reason but I'm sure she'll come around.

Crossing the border was quite easy, all the snakes I brought across are staying with me so I wasn't required to fill out the documents related to commercially importing. The US Wildlife fellow was suspicious at first until I told him I had 6 more hognose at home and intended on breeding in the future. He was really nice! Met me right at the package depot and guided me through filling out the paper work.

Hopefully I'll have some babies to post early June

El Diablo!!! I actually like the eye! It's like a Siberian Husky with one brown and one blue eye.
