I'm looking for any info I can get on this guys (heat/humidity requirments, cage size, personality, etc...) and some pics for size reference (and drooling) if possible. This is going to be my next snake(in addition to the Olive I'll be buying this summer), so I want as much info and as many opinions as I can get. Thanks!

Hi Victoria,

Tha Blacks would make a wonderful choice for a new snake.
There melanistic bodies and pumpkin orange eyes are truly amazing.
Unfortunately i havn't been working with them long enough to tell u what adults are like. but as hatchlings, mine have been very tame and have been eating incredibly well on F/T.
as hatchlings, they would be fine in a 10-15 gallon tank, however, keeping them in rubbermaids are great for this species.
they fair well with ambient 80 degrees with a hot spot in and around 88 degrees.
Humidity is best kept between 60-75% and instead of raising the humidity when in shed, i like to do hour long soaks every couple of days b4 they shed. I have just recently switched over to this and have found it much more successful.
substrates include paper towel for hatchlings and both paper towel and newspaper for adults. Its always best to start your new addition off on paper towel.
Cage size for adults should be in the 4' by 2' dimensions.
my hatchling blacks definately seem to take handling better then the other two species.

they also love a humidity hide with dampened sphagnum moss,and they are usually excellant feeders( keep your fingers out of the way!!!!!!)
