Recent Pics

It's been about a year and 3 months since I brought home my first carpet python. Never have sorted out the sex, but on the presumption it's male we named him (?) Bogey.
Just a little thing back then, here's the baby pics, hanging on the edge of a 29 gallon tank:

Small enough to curl around fingers:

Now well over 3', and showing much brighter yellow. I've seen hundreds of carpet python pics online, but never any that look like this. The black scales "peppered" among the yellow are quite different:

Still just as mellow as can be, never defensive, much less aggressive. He's been a bit more active at night lately, so I'm thinking it's about time to move him from the 40 breeder into a 75 gallon tank. Still plenty of room to move around in the 40, but a 75 will allow more branches for climbing and a wider vertical temp gradient.

He looks great man, carpet pythons are such inquisitive snakes.

Re: Recent Pics

Very nice carpet TnB. I need to give mine more climbing options.

Re: Recent Pics

I seldom see either of mine on the bottom of their enclosures unless they're soaking in the water bowl. Bogey prefers to hang out under the rhp, and Rivers usually stays in the ceramic cichlid stone cave directly under the che, or nearby among the silk ivy leaves. Both their hangout spots are on top of rubber-coated wire corner shelf thingies I found at Wal-Mart. Plastic canvas cut to cover the wire and provide a more flat/comfortable resting area. Sometimes they'll just hang out on the climbing branches as well, depends on their temp preference at the time.

Re: Recent Pics

I may offer mine 40 gallon breeders turned on their sides because mine are always perched as well, and being IJs will stay small enough to always want to climb. ^_^

TnB, he's a real beauty, thank you for sharing. =)
