Generally they are all high strung. You'll get individuals on both ends of the spectrum.

However I found macklots to be the most docile.

good to know. Most say liasis tend to be the sith in the python world.

Savu pythons (a small subspecies of the Macklots) tend to be really docile.

Olives are supposed to be the gentle giants of the genus. In my, limited, experience this holds true.

In my experience not lol. It's funny because I've heard this about olives my entire life, yet every olive I've known has turned psycho at one point. My experience with liasis is they're 100% trustworthy until they're not. Don't get me wrong, I'd never let this keep me from experiencing them, because as a whole, they're probably my favorite genus. Just won't ever let my guard down.

I laughed when I read this. Not because I think you're wrong. I have no clue and you obviously have experience with them. I do not. But today I was looking up snakes and youtubed macklots and of the 4 vids I watched, All attempted to strike the owner. One I watched, the guy had like 3 or 4 macklots. He said all were varying degrees of evil lol. Ok maybe not evil but certainly had no problems lunging out of the cage at him.

Fantastic looking snakes though and who doesnt need a little jolt of excitement now and then, amirite?

First thing about snakes in general is that NONE of them are aggressive, the closest thing off the top of my head that comes close is a coastal taipan, those things are borderline psychopathic. But almost all snakes will choose to avoid over attack a human if given the choice.

I've read around that olives have a VERY voracious feeding response, and I wouldn't want to be on the pointy end of one. I'd say olives are still defensive in comparison to other Aussie snakes like carpets, that can be big scaly puppy dogs!

I think it would very specimen-specimen, an example is my peacock monitor, they are notorious for never calming down but mine will actually climb onto my arm and procede to sit on my shoulder.
