Puff adders appear ‘invisible’ to noses

This is a very cool study that found that puff adders are using chemical crypsis to remain undetected by predators. This is the news item: https://www.sciencenews.org/article/...E2%80%99-noses

Re: Puff adders appear ‘invisible’ to noses

It would be interesting to know how they'd find each other for breeding if they were truly scentless. I've heard of reef fish doing something similar to this, where at night they'd encase themselves in a mucus bubble that keeps nocturnal predators from finding them. Very interesting, thanks for the link.
