Ceramic heat emitters

Just bought 4 ceramic heat emitters, 2 of them of them get really really hot and start to glow red and burns the crap out of you if you touch... The other two get warm to the touch, dont glow, which ones are considered the defected ones ?

Re: Ceramic heat emitters

Never seen them glow, but CHE's will burn the crap out of you when they are hot.
Best way to tell is to put one in the tank and measure the temp after a while.

I guess it depends of the wattage (I have never used one), but I doubt that they are suppoused to get red hot

Re: Ceramic heat emitters

Che will get unbelievably hot. 500 +. You need to use a thermostat.
