Exclamation Help needed on its tail!

Hello I brought my second corn snake today I didn't handle him when I first got him as he was a firey little bugger! But since he's warmes down i gave him a good once over and found his tail like this. 5 mins ago I am presuming this is a major problem or not?
I think I have added a pic not sure if it worked xx

You need a min. number of posts before you can post a photo. I believe the number is 5.

Re: Help needed on its tail!

Hard to tell in this pic a close up would help. could be that it got crushed or has had multiple incomplete sheds. If shed isnt removed completly over time it can cayse serious and irreversable damage to the point where the animal could possibly loose the end of its tail.

I would second this just to be safe, It could have been smashed and there's nothing more you can do, or it could be a bad shed and they'll still need to be removed. Either way I could because this is a sign that he had poor husbandry before and you'll want to make sure he's healthy.

Yes a vet asap!! poor thing. hopefully its not in too much pain. They will let you know if it was due to bad sheds or crushed by something.

Re: Help needed on its tail!

can you take a clear picture of the damaged area, running into an inch or two of the undamaged area please mate ?

it will give us a better idea to give you an educated opinion on

it's hard to tell whats going on in your first picture..

imo it almost looks like very old retained shed causing lack of growth or deformation, new pic's would tell us one way or the other

a trip to the vet would also clear things up

cheers shaun
