Sterilizing branches, logs, bark, ect..
I've got lots of branches and logs and even some domed shaped bark I can use a hide. Was reading some wash and bake it, some bleach, other methods...Figured I would ask you pro's how y'all do it and if there is anything not to use.
Woods I have readily available are, Mesquites, Oaks, Hackberry, Pecan and some Ash.

I do nothing to the wood I get from outside and have never had any problems with it. Look at it, if it is covered with bugs, put it down and get another piece. Even if it has a bug or two on it, it is not going to hurt your reptile.

I don't sterilize mine at all, I grab wood bugs and all and have had no problems ever. Bugs help keep things clean.

I bake the wood pieces I find outside at 250 degrees for about 2 hours.

I used a large branch for my iguana. A couple of weeks later some small insects hatched out from the wood and flew around for a couple of days, but otherwise there were not any issues and the price was right!

Same thing happened to me. I grabbed a perfect branch for a perch in my carpet cage from some local wooded area, and a while later some wood wasps started boring out of the wood. They were harmless but it was annoying, and there were a lot of them! But yeah I do nothing to wood/rocks I use either. Unless it's for the fish tank, different story.
