Snake painting/drawing

I saw several other members posting pictures of their artwork, so I thought, "what the heck?" and decided to post some of mine.

I usually do these as presents for friends; I'm so busy that it takes a fair amount of motivation to get me started on an art project, but as soon as I do I remember how much I love it!

The following drawings were done this past winter-summer and I tried to sell prints at local shows, but no biters. Oh well, they were fun to do and I can't wait to find the time to make some more!

Pen and ink study of Cryptelytops purpureomaculatus (purple mangrove viper). I liked this so much I decided to keep a few prints of just the pen and ink study:

Finished C. purpureomaculatus piece:

Parias sumatranus (Sumatran bamboo viper):

Re: Snake painting/drawing

Willow,

Beautiful work! You should consider doing a painting of one of your favorite snakes and then have that done as a tattoo somewhere that will show, perhaps the back of your calf. That way, you can tell people that it is a tattoo of one of your snakes and that you did the original artwork. Just a thought...

Re: Snake painting/drawing

Jim,

That's a cool idea. I work in research/teaching though, so I don't want tattoos in areas where they aren't easy to cover in case I need to for work. I have a large Wagler's viper perched on a brain on my right shoulder, so perhaps something like your idea could work for my left shoulder someday.
