roaches and more!

So yesterday I met with a guy and he donated some really cool roaches to me purvians, orange headed, and a good colony of madagascars and for 10 bucks he threw in a really lovely pair of milipedes so over all i got at least 60+ dollars worth of exotic insects for 10 im super happy and excited to see if i can get them to breed. All is well on the snake front even the little guy at the school i take care of

Re: roaches and more!

If they do breed a and the colonies get past like 15-20 adults I probably would sell them im not looking to make money off of them just to enjoy them

We have those so bad in Florida. If anyone here hasn't heard of palmetto bugs...Google it. In general, I'm scared of most insects except a few.

Re: roaches and more!

While I'm sure they are very interesting, I couldn't ever see myself getting into keeping roaches. I lived in Florida for a number of years and the Palmetto bugs were real pests. I've not really afraid of any insects except perhaps killer bees. I was in St. Augustine Florida last week and when we stopped at a Duncan donuts for coffee, there was a very large swarm of honey bees around the dumpster (several thousand) and all around the parking lot. They were starting to swarm up into the tiles on the roof. I've seen many swarms of regular honey bees up close and these did not act at all the same. I strongly suspect that they were Africanized honey bees (killer bees) so we did our business and left ASAP.

Re: roaches and more!

Very sweet millis! How long are they?

Hissers are a hoot and a half. Very durable buggers. One of the prettiest roaches is green in color. Can't remember the species name off the top of my head.

Re: roaches and more!

I lived in SC for a year (military post) and the roaches freaked me out...I really want an LP tarantula, but the fact they eat roaches when full grown freaks out hubby AND I...he was stationed there too... LOVE the T's, not crazy about the feeders...I can keep crickets no problem (love the chirping, personally)...LOL
