Dumerils hot spot

So those of you who have dumerils what are you keeping your hot spot at? I keep mine around 88 and always have and for some odd reason my female is always on the cool side. I don't want to drop it that much cooler but even after a meal she hangs out on the cool side. nothing is wrong with her as she eats fine, doesn't take it off tongs anymore. I have to just lay it In there. she is around 1000 grams eating 100g rats every two weeks. she is the most mellow snake I have. then on the other hand I have an albino whos hot spot I keep at 91 and he wont leave the hot side of the tank. he is eating rat pups every week.

im not worried about this as she looks to be in perfect health but just curious to your hot spots as I know dumerils like it cooler than most boas.

Re: Dumerils hot spot

I keep both of mine at 88 or so and they both usually hang out on the cool side. My big adult male takes his sweet time eating his XL rat after I leave it in his cage and leave the room, while my juvenile female eagerly snatches her small rats while I dangle them in front of her.

Re: Dumerils hot spot

I've set my hot spot for my Dumeril's at 95, but it's under an inch of aspen. It's about 80 degrees in her cool hide, and the rest of the cage is about 77-79 degrees. For about 2 days after she eats, she has half of her body in her regular hide and lower half in the hide over the hot spot.

If it gets above 82 in her hide, she'll come out and burrow in her aspen on the cool side. 80 degrees seems to be her preferred overall temperature.

My dum is easily the most mellow snake I've encountered. She eats F/T with no issues. Great snakes.
