Please help! What's wrong with this snake?

This snake is at my local pet store for a pretty good deal. The guy doesn't really advise me to buy it because he doesn't have any idea what is wrong with him. The only thing he knows I'd he actually cut the lip of the snake a few months ago and clear liquid came out. He said it didn't look like an infection at all. Then just a few days ago The other side started swelling up.

Why doesn't he take it to a vet?

Probably some form of cellulite or edema. Hard to tell from that picture even what kind of snake it is. In any case, I wouldn't buy it :-/
do you notice that it rubs or presses against the cage?

A sick snake is never a good deal, looks like an albino burmese with swellings on his head? Agree with Starbuck though, the picture is very poor can't really say anything.. It really needs to be brought to a vet,

Agree. A vet visit is needed. Most likely will need some antibiotics. I would not buy it. A good deal could turn into a financial nightmare, if you have vet bills to pay.

Yes it is an albino burm and I don't know anything about it other than he said he popped the one side a few months ago and clear liquid came out. I figure there will be vet bills but I really feel sorry for the snake. Idk y he doesn't take it to a vet. The snake is extremely well tempered and is exactly what I'm looking for, I was just wondering if anyone saw anything like this before. It looks weird to me because it doesn't look like any kind of an infection.

Why would he take it to the vet when people like you would actually pay him for the privilege of taking it to the vet?

Re: Please help! What's wrong with this snake?

Sometimes snakes are "well-mannered" because they are sick. I've rescued a few reptiles that got some attitude back once they started feeling better.

Honestly, if it were me, I would pass it up, and find a different snake. It's going to cost you a lot to get it better, if it's even possible to save it. Plus, the money the store makes off of that animal will just go into buying more. I know how hard it is to not take home an animal in that condition, but that's just my thoughts on it.

I have to second Shann, sick snakes sometimes seem to have a better temperament than they have when they feel fine. You never know.. Shame he won't take it to a vet..

This, if you did buy it he would just get another, better to let it die in his care and cost him money

that snake needs attention urgently - not only its mouth, but it looks emaciated

call your local animal welfare/protection group and get them to take it in, today.

Sadly, in this country, there are normally no such groups like that for snakes. Only dogs and cats.

Re: Please help! What's wrong with this snake?

It probably doesnt want to eat because it is painful. While most s pca groups won't deal with reptiles, you can at least call them. Its unlikely they can prove he caused the issue, or thatb it is due to cruelty/negligence on his part, but I agree with all the others...

Dont buy this snake. You dont need the headache, and without knowing background info, you dont know its history that may be contributing to the issue.
