Coiled up in the Water Bowl?

Is this a normal thing to do for a BP? He has been doin this quite a bit lately. He just coils himself up in the water and chills there for a few hours then goes back into his hide. Is this a sign of some sort that I should be worried?

Also he has still not eaten for me since I've had him (Jan. 3, 2003) I know he might just be fasting because that's what they do but he is only 10months old and I thought only adults did this? He hasn't appeared to lose any size to him so I dunno what else to do but keep trying to feed once every week? And no I do not handle him a whole lot because of this. Maybe once every 2 weeks.

Soaking might be normal behavior but could also be a sign of some problems. Sometimes snakes get relief from mites or ticks by going into the water. It could be an attempt to cool off if there are not any cooler areas in the enclosure. It could also be because it's too dry and he's trying to absorb some moisture for a shed.

Check for mites and ticks. Check the warm and cool side temps. If everything checks out then just keep doing what you're doing. Offer food every week and keep handling to a minimum. How are you offering the prey and what size? There are lots of tricks you can try but sometimes you just have to wait it out.

my bp took to his water dish and i found he had mites. soaked the snake, treated the enclosure with provent-a-mite, and he no longer hangs out in the pool...

I hope my snake doesn't get mites. Anyways. My BP is only 1 month old and I have never seen him eat yet. I dunno if I should worry. I know I should probably be worrying more than you seeing as how mine is a baby. But he seems to be coming along just fine.

My ball started soaking right before she had a good size poop, as it turned out the poop was all worms. So off to the vet and after her treatment she has not been back into her dish, and no more worms either.

IF YOUR SNAKE DOES HAVE MITES SOAK IT FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS, AND WHY IT SOAKS YOU SHOULD BUY SOME PREVENT A MITE SPRAY. CHANGE THE BEEDING AND THEN FOLLOW DIRECTIONS ON PREVENT A MITE. N.G.B.
