Carpets - How they Defecate and Urinate
When you witness your carpets defecate/urinate, do they just drop them from the perch or do they go down to the floor to do it?
I'm building some perch levels for my new carpet enclosure and was wondering if I should build a level underneath the primary one... however I don't think it would be a good idea if my carpet is going to drop a deuce on it all the time while perching up high.

Re: Carpets - How they Defecate and Urinate
I have actually never witnessed my carpet defecating, but 100% of the time it is on the ground, generally in a corner or in an hide that she does not readily use.

Wouldn't it also be on their perch if they went up there since they wrap their perches with their tails?

In that case when they get poop on wood such as perches hides...etc how do you clean them? How long do wood products last with your typical snake?

Fix the wood perches so they are easily removable. Lift them out and clean them.

All my perches are removable via rod holders or eye and hook screws. I am asking how you clean them and how long they last in your enclosures. Whats the longest you've used a wood product for one snake?

I clean the hides (plastic) with 1:125 F10 solution. Rinse off in water then spray with F10, dry with paper towel.
The enclosures are coated with three layers of varnish as well as shelves - sprayed with F10 solution for cleaning - towel dried. Perches being natural wood are just hosed off and sun dried.

Yup. I have had one JCP crap onto another below when breeding. Everything is removable for cleaning.

Re: Carpets - How they Defecate and Urinate
I have fine wire mesh floors in the bottom of a wooden frame set with glass walls -
spread small river rocks over the mesh- remove poop and wash down
