Flattened body???

So my dad owns a ball python that is about 4-5" around named Monty. Well, my dad always lets him explore and one day, he found the closet door. He flattened out his whole body and slid right under an inch gap that I can't even fit my hand under. I had nook idea they had this capability. Has anyone else's ball python done something like this before?

Re: Flattened body???

my king did the same thing, and almost escaped her viv through less than 1/2 inch gap between two glass panels. their bones are incredibly flexible, and even in the head they are highly moveable. this helps them to swallow large prey items; and is also why snakes are not very well represented in the fossil record.

Re: Flattened body???

Awesome, thanks for the info I just never thought anything that big could fit under such a small gap! Haha
