Welcome! Education is the strongest tool to use when you're trying to sway snake-haters away from their preconceptions. You might not ever get them to really like snakes, but if you do your research and teach them about these fascinating animals then eventually they're bound to come around and see that they really are just like any other animal. Although you mentioned religious roots; what religion does your family adhere to? That may present a special kind of obstacle. Any idea what kind of snake you want to get?

My dad is a SuperChristian lol. I feel like the whole "I'm turning you into a snake as a punishment" and "snakes are evil and dirty" thing in the bible shaped his view of them.
And since I've never had a snake, and I hear corns are perfect beginners, I'm thinking I'll get one of those lil guys. Amel reverse okeetee or aztec!
