Escapee

My baby Lemon Blast ball python that I had for about a week escaped when my mom went to have a look and didn't close the cage properly. My Mojave girl got out too but i found her hiding behind a mirror. What are the places I should check? I'm keeping the room at almost 80 degrees and keeping the door closed until then. So sad.

Re: Escapee

Chances are good it found a dark place to hide, and probably not too far away. Check under and between everything. Start at the door and systematically move to the right covering everything.

One thing I've heard of being done is to warm up a F/T rat pup and leave it in the middle of the room in a container with holes in it so that the snake can smell it but can't get to it. Leave one of its hides next to the container. Sprinkle a little bit of flour around the container to see if you have had a visitor.

Good luck!

Re: Escapee

My king escaped once... She sat on top of her tank and waited for me to put her back.

Re: Escapee

Check inside blankets and under mattresses. My boyfriends BRB got into the basement that way, she escaped for a month and was hiding in the guest bedroom blankets. Blankets and sheets went down the laundry chute and we found her down there, feisty as heck.

Re: Escapee

Everyone pretty much covered all the hiding places. Anything that is warm and cozy. Think like a snake. Where would you go if you got out.

Is there a possibility it could have got to other parts of the house?

Saber has a good point. Put it's normal feeder in the middle of the room and sprinkle flower around the food.

I fell asleep one night with my blood python on me. I suddenly awoke and realized what I had done. I found her in a duffle bag under my bed.

Good luck!

Keep us updated!

Re: Escapee

He has been found! My dog, who luckily is good around snakes, sneaked into my room and i came back because he was barking. Lo and behold there was the snake. Apparently he came out for some reason and i luckily found him before he went back away. Now hes happy, safe and fed again

Re: Escapee

Good dog you have there!! If it would have been one of my cats I probably would have found a dead snake.... Well unless the retic gets out in the future. I would probably be missing a cat. I could just tell chelsea it got out the door.

Congrats!!!

Re: Escapee

Congrats! When my corn got out my dog AND my cat let me know they cornered it between them so it would get away and barked and yowled till we came to see what was going on. .
