Poseidon's Growth over a Year

For those of you who have wondered about Poseidon since I first picked him up as a 2 month hatchling last year, I have decided to go back in my pics and show you all his progression.

When I first got him, I had to wait 2 months after he hatched because he got off to a slow start and I had to wait until he had a couple of meals in him before I could take possession. When I first got him, I noticed how chill he was right from the start. Most baby Burms are as bitey as can be but not him. Not once has he struck at me or even hissed at me. He's always been laid back. Now, he's over 5' long and still as laid back as ever. Where's that "snappy" phase? It's never been found in him. He is curious, however, about his surroundings and loves to explore when he can. Right now, I have him on Large rats weekly and he pounds them down every time.

For those of you who have never seen him before, this is Poseidon, my Normal het Albino yearling Burm. He was hatched in August 2012 and I took possession of him in October and have enjoyed him since.

I never noticed that before. He is, isn't he?

That last shot has his tongue sticking out only partially. This is so him!

Re: Poseidon's Growth over a Year

Thank you. Yeah, I'm happy with him.

It's actually very interesting the circumstances in which I first picked him up.

Re: Poseidon's Growth over a Year

Thanks guys.

When I moved here last year, I found out my roommate was hatching a clutch of Burms. Unfortunately he did not have very good luck with this clutch. All the Albinos and all the females and most of the males died, either in the egg or shortly thereafter. Even my first choice never got established as an eater and subsequently did not make it. Poseidon himself was a slow starter when it came to eating, which was why it took so long for me to get him. He eventually did eat however and he ended up being one of the only two surviving snakes from that clutch and while I admit to him being my second choice, I am very happy with him and his progress. See, he was the first snake I ever bought directly from a breeder straight from the egg and the fact that he's doing so well, in spite of his clutchmates' high mortality, makes him even more of a special snake with a special history.
