Cool Reptile Rack Thermostat

Ive recently picked up an Animal Plastics (10)cb70 reptile rack. It is dual sided heat and i now need to order a thermostat for it. Two buddies of mine have recommended the Herpstat from SpyderRobotics. I was thinking of getting the herpstat 2 so i can use it for my rack and when i finally build my baby rack i can use it for that too. So i was wondering, has anyone else used the herpstat? and or what thermometer would you recommend instead?

Helix and Herpstat were specifically designed for reptile use and are used by many people. You can also go with Ranco or Johnson thermostats that work nice.

They definitely look nicer, but any of those 4 have had good reviews.

Re: Reptile Rack Thermostat

I agree with Corey, if you've got the money to dish out for a Helix or other, go for it. When I got my first snake my funds were limited, so I ended up buying a Hydrofarm MTPRTC Digital Thermostat. It's made for plants, but I check often with a digital thermo gun, and I've never a conflict in temperature that wasn't negligible. I paid $20 for it at the time...I should probably upgrade, but since I've never had an issue I never replaced it. Good luck, let us know what you decide on.

Re: Reptile Rack Thermostat

Nice! You will love your (10) CB70. This I know. For one thing the dual sided radiant heat panels are awesome. I'm using that in my (6) AP 1996 for my bigger snakes and it works great. I also am using a herpstat for this rack and I couldn't be happier. The CB70 is also a well designed rack itself and is one that I also use for my more medium sized snakes. Mine is older though, uses heat cable and has only 4 shelves so yours is way nicer. I have nothing but good things to say about Animal Plastics as they have always treated me right. Congrations on all this and looking forward to seeing those pics.

I use the Vivarium Electronics VE-200. They have it on Reptilebasics.
