Good glottis shot
Our large male ball python, Jasper had a meal the other day. I love to watch him eat. All the other snakes we have are pretty young, but he's an old hat at shoving down meals. He's got skills, usually lol
He treats each meal as though he's an artist! the perfect strike, the perfect coil, the most efficient "shove it in my mouth with my coils" method lol
Anyway, this time he took his time, and i got to see his glottis. Cracked me up because the tongue kept wiggling. Just thought i'd share!

Re: Good glottis shot
Okay, newb question. What is the purpose of the glottis, I'm taking a wild guess here and guessing that it is used to help the snake breathe air while swallowing prey? Before this picture I didn't even know it existed, haha. Although I'd unknowingly drawn it in snakes before, thinking the tongue came from it...
interesting shots, definitely informative, haha

Re: Good glottis shot
Yep they throw the glottis out to breath whilst they have a huge prey item blocking everything else
