boa opinion
I saw an add on craigslist and it caught my attention. The dude is selling a 4' "columbian RTB" for $60.00 it comes with a tank (wich is completely wrong for a boa its very tall and maybe 2' across.) if I can get him to drop the price by getting ONLY the Boa i might get him/her. might even get the tank for a carpet python later on if they can be housed in a tall tank instead of a long. should I just get the whole set up for $60.00 and consider it a steal????

But what if upon inspection, the snake is healthy and has a healthy weight? Would you take the deal and give it a better quality of life? Thats just how I look at it. If I could i would seek out the sickly snakes and try to restore them back to health, but I dont have the time or the money for something like that right now. I have the abillity to take MY snakes to the vet if need be but thats about it.

Re: boa opinion
I went the other way with my carpet girl. She was hardly handled and in a box that was to small for her and they wanted huge money for her... I paid them then told them how horrible they were on my way out. She was worth it. Love her and she relaxed and is easy ti handle. I say go check it out. Might be great in the end for both you and this boa.

Please don't preach this as inadequate care. I don't handle my reptiles for pleasure.

I can quote the rest of that context and I just did. It wasnt just the "lack of handling". It was everything else, namely the small enclosure and the exorbitant price. Preaching "lack of handling" wasnt his primary aim in this post. Handling is a preference, like a lot of other things as I handle my snakes as much as I can, but I also understand why people dont handle their snakes as much, and thats perfectly ok.

You are right. Columbian RTBs are usually in that price range or less.

Re: boa opinion
RTB's are a scam magnet. Alot of people think they're worth more money than they are. A pet store that I get my feeders from is selling 2 regular adults, not morphs for 400 bucks a piece.

Re: boa opinion
Thanks guys. I didnt end up getting him because like I said, he pushed the price up to $100.00 because it was a "PURE" columbian. NOPE.

Good for you by not getting him. A lot of time pet lover got trapped by people just because you want to give him a better life. What I try to say is when a animal was owned by people who don't know how to care, this animal might have a chance carry parasite and can infect to your other snakes.
