I have a ball python that acts like a carpet python, and a carpet python that acts like a ball python, truthfully both are awesome snakes and rather similar in disposition when given the chance. ~Caylan.S.~

Thats interesting. From what Ive seen, balls are docile and make great lap snakes and when scared, they just wrap themselves tightly in a bal. Carpets are active, love to climb and are very curious. I dont see any similarity other than the fact that my IJs are docile as well.

I have carpets and a ball and this is them to a "T".
They are both great just for different reasons.
Balls are great for just hanging out , carpets are very active and you have to "handle" them or be handled by them BUT if you want a bit of both.....you want a boa they are about half way in between.

Re: Carpet Pythons

i prefer carpets over balls too...

carpets are active, perch & make use of arboreal setups, reach the perfect size (big enough to be impressive but small enough to keep in an apartment and manageable by 1 person), and are great to handle (Spot likes to wrap his tail around my arms and climb all over me), andddd carpet morphs have been up and coming so carpets too come a plethora of different patterns and colors

sometimes i'm tempted to create a Carpets vs Balls thread with a poll and all

My IJ male will NOT eat rats. He ONLY eats mice. Go figure.

Niether of mine have eaten in weeks. Not worried though. My male went 4 months without food last year.
