Not the most logical question...

No unfortunately they cant eat with their mouth sewn up. Your second question i can not answer, im not familiar with the process of sewing animals mouths shut. The people who do this obviously are not interested in the snakes well being... only interested in making a dollar...
(or rupee in their case)
Also sown means to plant seeds... Sewn means to bound together.
