The breeder shouldn't have sold the snake until it fed on its own! Babies are hard to get to feed, you basically have to pi** them off with the pinkies to get them to bit. This can take a while and a snake should have at least 6 feeding without having to pinky slap them! In the wild they don't all survive, only the strong ones with the good feeding response. In captivity more will survive because breeders need to encourage them to feed.

Good Luck, I'm sure he'll be fine, he just needs time to adjust!
