Re: A few feeding pics!
He will outgrow the fuzzies in a month or two if he hasn't already. You could probably feed him two at a time until you get some rats for him. Sell them, or trade them, or keep them for your next snake

Re: A few feeding pics!
^^ Agreed. My 5.5 month old JCP came to me feeding on 3 mice pinks a week. I immediately transitioned her to 1 rat pink.....this lasted one feeding. The next week I fed her 2 rat pinks. She shed, had two more meals on rat pinks, and shed again. I just ordered rat fuzzies, but I have 3 other snakes who will be eating those as well.
I'd imagine my JCP, as well as yours, will be feeding on rat pups and small rats in 1-3 months max.
Great looking pics by the way! He looks like he has gold-ish eyes...my girl has silver-ish eyes. He's very handsome!
And I like the peep-a-look cardboard in front of his hide!!

I guess his eyes are kind of goldenish. It looks like they are matching his skin "yellows", does this mean that his eyes will continue to be more yellow as he matures? Or will they stay gold? Either way, I like his eyes, definitely one of the features I like about him and JCP's in general.
I do have the cardboard in front of his hide, but he never hangs out in there, he chooses a different hiding spot in his tank. Oh well!
I can not imagine that he'll be ready for rat pups in "1-3 months max"! We'll see I guess. When you feed 1-3 mice pinks a week, you feed them all at once right? Not spaced out during the week?

Re: A few feeding pics!
He will definetely out-grow those very quickly. I would start feeding 2-3 a feed if you have no other snakes that will eat them. Jungles grow rather quickly and yours will most likely be on weaner rats before you know it. Im not suggesting to power feed but by looking at those pictures i would give him 2 of the fuzzies at a time, after he does his next shed go 3 at a time.

From what I've gathered on JCP growth, you'd be surprised at how fast he'll be up to the next prey size! JCPs can eat relatively large prey items; I believe 150% of their thickest girth is a cakewalk for them. Also, I think Nafun mentioned that their JCP went from 30 inches and a few grams to 6 feet and over a kilo in 7 months....
The breeder I bought her from had her on 2-3 mice pinks a week. When I got her, I immediately offered her a much larger rat pink. The next week I gave her 2 rat pinks, back-to-back (I give about a 5-10 minute gap between offerings to allow the food to move to about mid-body). But yes, when I give multiple prey items, they happen during the same feeding period.
This week, she will be getting 1-2 rat fuzzies, depending on size.

Re: A few feeding pics!
The rat my JCP just ate was easily twice the size of its head - in the shop it looked smaller but when it came to feed it i was quite concerned that the snake would have issues - he chomped it down in under five minutes and shortly after was looking for some dessert - Shauny has always said about how big prey carpets can eat and i can really understand what he means now!!

Re: A few feeding pics!
i never offer mice to any of my carpets
they all get started on rat pups
hatchling problem feeders i will break my rule for but nothing else
you would be surprized how big a prey item a carpet can take
look at percey39's scrub python feeding thread
carpets are very stretchy fellows who can take way over twice the girth of their own bodys
i would get your carpet onto rats right away
ive found the longer you leave it the harder it gets to switch
that said ive bought a few carpets that ive switched over effortlesly
i really like the silvery blue tinge to the coulor of yours mate, imo he's going to be a very nice looking adult
cheers shaun
