OK, so I have never bred a snake, heck I wont even kiss it. But jokes aside, I read somewhere that some who breed them keep them together year round. Unless the male seems like he is tired of the old hag and they give him a break for a week or two. I have even heard of a substantially larger boa being placed with a smaller male for breeding and never having a problem. I also know of a reptile shop that keeps 3 to 4 fairly large boas together. I too would never try a python and boa.
If you did have two the same size who do you think would win in a fight? 5 foot boa vs 5 foot python.

personally i think a boa. its not too bad to house same species together just not different ones>
