Looks like burns to me, probably from an unregulated heat source. Did the snake's viv come with a UTH or a heat rock? A UTH must be regulated by a thermostat and heat rocks shouldn't be used at all.

i was thinking they might have been burns but the UTH has a thermostat connected. maybe ill go pick up another one.. might be defective? thanks guys!

At this point I'd be asking my "buddy" if the snake had gotten loose at some point and had gotten burned on a hot pipe, etc. For exemple, the only place I can think that my Pygmy Python could've gotten burned was on the dryer hose coupling...it vents at the bottom, and there are no hot water pipes down low enough for it to have gotten burned and all my bathroom cabinets are sealed up.
