The viv wasn't what I expected but it's sufficient for now, and the stand is is a homemade "piece of work" that will work, but I don't know if I'm going to use it,

The snake...is everything I expected and quite squirmy, like my CP, but not as strong as the CP. The snake alone was worth the four bills I paid! I'll try to take a pic or two tomorrow...if it lets me!

One thing that is annoying--nobody gives you a clean cage any more!!! The Hogg Island Boa's 20gal was really pathetic inside, like a spitting cobra had been the cage and spit on the inside for the past two years...that took a bit of elbow grease and Softscrub abrasive cleaner to clean up right.

This time the substrate is still in the Beauty's cage, and so is some solidified excrement pasted to the floor in a large pile...sure it gives me something to do tomorrow, to clean out his cage, but it's not what I wanted to do if I didn't have to. Sure, the water hose will make quick work of most of the "stuff", but come on people!
Yea I've gotten stuck twice; Driving for 5 hours to get the animal and then two hours of scraping, cleaning and sanitizing the tank before returning the snake to it... Talk about a long day... I'm old so it would wipe me out...

Keep us posted! I'm dieing to see if your guy calms down after a while... When I got mine he would musk really, really bad... He did that for about two months and then just stopped it... I kind of miss it... It's Kind of like Patchouli... You kind of like it, but boy is it powerful...

Re: Not a Chinese Beauty...

The viv had some actual rocks mounted to the back wall, the kind of rocks you'd stick to a wall around a fireplace, veneer material. Anyway, one of them fell off and now I have to re-glue the rock back in place and one other that's a little loose; I think they used aquarium sealant, globs in varous places, to hold them in place, but the snake liked climbing on them. I just have to secure the loose ones and let it cure overnight.

Got the cage (66"x28"x17" (lwh) internal) sprayed out with the hose, but I need to sanitize with some 5% chlorine solution and then I'm gonna use Reptibark vice Cypress, the previous substrate. The seller was also using some halogen lights vice a CHE or a RHP, shining the light through the screens at the top. I'll probably go CHE since there isn't a lot of "meat" to the top of the cage, it's actually a molded PVC cage, and not a PVC laminated cage. I'll just feed a probe from the side and hang it down by the hide. There are a lot of screens at the top, I've gotta wonder how humidity is going to be maintained. I'll probably block a few of them up but I'll probably try a basking light, mid cage, over the top of some furniture I got with one of my other snakes.

As far as the snake goes...he didn't put up a big fight when I moved him into the 110L Sterlite that I use for the Carpet previously; I put his hide in there along with some water. When I looked in on him earlier he was out so I thought I'd open up the top and see if he wanted to come out to look around; he gracefully declined and slithered into his hide, but when I touched his body and tail, using my whole hand, he never flinched...a good sign I hope. Either that, or he's faking and he'll do like the Pine did and go psycho on me!

My guy is jumpy... He flinches every time I touch him, or if I turn off or on the lights, but he's the only one out of my five that will calm down and just sit still in my lap... He is also the only one I have that is out and run around his cage during the day... Go figure!
