Thanks Mink. I grew it out for 2yrs and it was almost down to my belly button. I shaved it for a job interview, but it turns out they don't care if I have a long beard. So it's coming back.

The exact need for a beard can can calculated by the equation;
Need for warmth+want of manliness+interest in non high maintenance women+laziness^2

I mainly grow a beard because the hair up top is falling out and my face is ugly so I cover it up. Never had that long of a beard before so I wanted to try it out. I didn't plan on growing it to that length, but people kept asking why and telling me to trim it...that was my motivation to keep it growing. I'd probably still have it if it weren't for trying to get a new job.

First off no one thinks Tom cruise is manly, and I have met Sean white several times over the years and those skinny genes just can't be considered a manly mans accessory.
Second even the rock locks more BA with a beard. What do you kids say these days, something about ruining a perfectly good microphone?

Haha I also have a bit of a baby face without my dear friend Mr. Beardly.

Re: Introduce Yourself With Pics

'Manly' is too subjective. We aren't cavemen any more where testosterone rules. If you like a beard, cool. But just because someone lacks one doesn't make them any less than someone who doesnt.

Oh, and as for the pics of Mr. Johnson. Why is it that people's perception of manly is always scowling or some other serious face? Recently joined the app game Game of War and like EVERY male avatar they have to choose from (bearded or not lol) has that same angry, scowling, serious face. Is it unmanly to smile too?

Re: Introduce Yourself With Pics

I don't think having a beard makes you anymore of a man than not having one . I think its whats inside you and how you treat others makes you one. Call me old fashioned but that's just me

Re: Introduce Yourself With Pics

In many ways we are more evolved than cavemen and in many ways we are not. When you compare me to a caveman are you referring to the neanderthals or just early homo sapiens? I think someone who is smiling hasn't yet grasped that life sucks, therefore seeming more child like in nature. If you haven't picked up on it yet everything I have said is all very tongue in cheek.

Or maybe in a game where you start wars, scowling makes sense and the problem here is that the women don't so they seem more attractive?

Disclaimer: I've never actually played this game. I've just seen their ads with that one lady in a dress whose face probably gets less attention than average because of the rest of her.

Re: Introduce Yourself With Pics

Beards are more manly. It's just science. Like bacon is the perfect food. You can't argue with facts.

But, on a serious note, I have read studies where women tend to find men more attractive with a short beard. Now, obviously, that doesn't mean my beard makes me more attractive than a beardless Brad Pitt (or whoever is considered hot these days). But, it does apparently mean I'm a little more sexually attractive with a beard rather than without. I use my general dorkiness and reptiles to offset that though. So it's a wash.
