Re: Difference between a performer and an artist.

Left- Kanye West
Right - Gord Downie

Kanye West is a pouty attention seeking narcissist who was recently hospitalized because of "temporary psychosis due to dehydration and exhaustion"...so basically he had to cancel his tour because he needed a nap and a bottle and he had a tantrum on stage. He's known for knocking boots with Kim Kardashian and having a baby with her, being very outspoken and arrogant, and also for interrupting other performers while accepting awards or during performances. He used to be viewed asd very talented, humble and level headed but once his mother died about 7 or 8 years ago...maybe more...he completely changed.

Gord Downie is the singer in a band called The Tragically Hip, and is a Canadian icon who was recently diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and they just finished a country wide tour of which Gords oncologist toured with them to observe him for the duration of the tour and give him the medical treatment he required while touring. The guy can't even remember his kids names at this point but he was able to muster up enough strength and courage to do what he loves and put on many shows for our country with the aide of teleprompters so he can remember the words to his own songs. For the finale of the tour, the CBC (our national broadcasting company) actually postponed olympic coverage in order to nationally air their last concert without any ads. He will actually be putting on a few solo shows in the next upcoming months even though he is knocking on death's door. If you've never heard of the Tragically Hip, definitely give a few songs a listen on youtube...I recommend "Courage", the same song that the nursing/care/medical staff at the hospital which he was being treated at before the tour sang to him.

Now you might understand the meme.

Wow! Before you continue to spew out your personal rhetoric about Mr. Kanye West you should know that he is a well respected American rapper , songwriter, record producer. He also is a fashion designer and entrepreneur. And his wife is Kim Kardashian and they are legally married. He may be suffering from P.T.S.D.
It's (P.T.S.D.) very prevalent among entertainers and military and para military personell.

I agree - from what I've heard KW may be suffering from genuine and significant mental health issues. As someone who has suffered from severe depression and as someone who has recently lost someone to cancer I find neither a laughing matter.

Note I am not offended in any way at all (I am almost impossible to offend!) but by the same token I think too many people underestimate how debilitating mental health issues are whilst having the utmost empathy for those suffering from physical health problems.

I make this comment more to stimulate a discussion on the matter than anything else BTW

EDIT - personally I cannot stand KW or his missus but if his mental health issues are as reported then he has my sympathy

I understand the mental health issues as I was a qualified psychiatric nurse, I also lost my wife to kidney cancer in November 2015 and I also have physical problems as I suffer from Lumbar and Cervical Spondylosis and I agree with Danny on all 3 of his points.

"Respected" is a very strong word in this case, but thanks for the tip...i'll be much more careful in relaying my "rhetoric" in the joke forum.
