Do Dumerils Boas climb?

I am building currently the adult enclosure for my male Dumerils Boa. It will be 80cm high (31.5 inches, or 2,60 feet high). I wanted to know if they climb? did any one see his or her Dumerils boa climb? Should i provide him with boughs to climb or he is not going to use it?

My Dumeril’s climbs. Not tons, but she does. She likes to bask on branches at night.

Yes - nearly all snakes will explore at least lower branches of provided.

They have a pair in a wildlife park near me and the enclosure is a good 8' high and one or other of the pair are often seen high up in that enclosure.

I'd always provide the option to climb for all my snakes.

Dumerils are considered as a terrestrial species, but they certainly will make use of any space you can give them, and they definitely will climb if given the chance.

You can't really house a true arboreal species at home, unless you have a very high house. Anything in a vivarium of normal proportions can be considered terrestrial, and any reptile provided with branches so low to the ground will use them.

I'd provide with branches, it gives more exercise to the snake in the limited space a vivarium can provide.

True arboreal species are ATB, GTP, ETB, Madagascar Tree Boa. You are saying that you can,t house them unless you have a very high house. how high should the house be?
Regarding my Dumeril, i am going to provide him now with a big bough to climb

Nope, I mean that even a 3 or 4' tall vivarium is still a terrestrial vivarium when you take into account real world sizes. A branch in such vivarium, while utilized by arboreal species, is from the animals point of view simply hanging around in a small bush.

Similarly, species considered terrestrial, like dumerelis, will use branches and stuff at such height to climb on/over and whatnot because for them, it is simply very low bush and branches, nothing arboreal about it.

It's always good to provide opportunities for snakes to use something else but a flat surface. So some branches in a vivarium for a terrestrial snake won't be a bad idea as it gives more elements for the snake to use.
