The only limb I could find is heavy enough to kill them if it fell over, so we are going hunting for driftwood up at the stump fence tomorrow.

OK, that's vague.

There is a stump fence (long line of tree stumps) that's like 100 years old up on top of my hill.

Light, well seasoned and unique shaped driftwood.

That is living breathing dirt with all sorts of microorganisms and insect life, it won't be any more of a litter box than any forest.

This, to me, is one of the most interesting things about your enclosure Wayne. The mini-ecosystem you've created. The humidity and high temp should be perfect for growing the bacteria that will eat the waste products. I imagine it's kind of like an aquarium's nitrogen cycle but in the soil instead of water.

Again, congratulations. Littlefoot and Cera don't realize they've won the lotto but we all do. :)

Cera was sound asleep with her head on the moss like a pillow, but as soon as I opened the door she woke up and scurried.

I wish I had filmed this... Just now I saw Littlefoot out in the open, so I reached for him, he has some pipes, that's for sure, he hissed and tried to bite me.

This went on for a few seconds before he retreated down the confines of his burrow.

oh yes! savs never like to be vaunerable and they can reorientate them selves FAST

Oh yeah, there is all kinds of critters in there..

This one species of tiny cricket is of no interest to them, they just ignore them.

But something in there is cleaning up the poop, and it ain't me.

littlefoot seems to have a different look to him,from what i've seen of our members pic's of their monitors

i'm the same with hatchling carpets wayne

rather than handle them early and force the calming down on them,using the daily handling method.i let them get a bit of size and confidence about them before i start the proccess,imo saves a lot of stress

I'm so in love with them. I still can't believe how tiny they are... How long until they're Chomper-sized?

Sorry about the throbbing, The basking light was just enough to keep the auto iris in a constant flux.

at 2 minutes in, there is a cute yawn, I pieced together 3 trips to the basking platform.

Oh, I released 2 medium size dubia in there today, Cera had the first one within seconds.

The other one went into the burrow where Littlefoot was hiding, it never came back out.

Cera is getting more confident every day, I like that. I just wish Littlefoot would grow some nads.

I think a couple high sensitivity microphones would be cool too, sometimes the monitors make some interesting sounds, like when they shuffle the leaves, hiss at me, stuff like that would be great to pick up.

I am starting to experiment with my video software more, so a short tiny clip seemed a good place to start, it took 4 attempts on the editing to get that right, imagine flubbing up on a long clip and having to re-do it over and over. Bleh

Yes and no. I see monitors (including videos of wild monitors) do a lazy amble from one place to another near by where they aren't actually all the way up. But yes, when they are actually up and moving around, their belly shouldn't drag.

Minimal handling...

They don't like it, so I don't force it.

They are learning at their own pace.

Littlefoot will eat from tongs, and Cera knows the sound of me dumping food in the cage, so she will come out of hiding as I put worms in there.

I got grass that grows better in shade, evidently the really thin bladed stuff needs strong sunlight to do well, it took a month, but it died.

I dug up this grass from a shady spot, it has really wide blades for more efficient light absorption.

So while I was out in the woods, I grabbed up more moss, that stuff is doing awesome, so I wanted more of it.

They both seem to be big fans of the moss.

Yesterday Cera was covered in wet dirt from snout to tail, seems to love digging..

and those paper tubes, they use them for hides.

Sometimes I worry about the humidity, I have to wipe off the inside of the front glass like 3 times a day.

When I get up in the morning there is so much water condensed on that glass it saturates a handful of paper towels.

I was thinking that, and maybe a small computer fan that I can switch on for a couple hours a day.

Vary the humidity like in nature.

It wouldnt take much to put a 2" pvc pipe on each end of the cage, then I can just put caps on them when I want it sealed, and take them off when I want airflow.
