Sulcata

Living where I do, my tortoise has to spend his winters locked up in his barn. But once the outdoor temps hit the 50's I open up his door and let him wander if he so chooses. We've been having some sunny days so he's been choosing to be outdoors a lot! Just eats whatever he can find and only returns to his barn to bask under his lights or sleep for the night.

Re: Sulcata

That's so cool! Did you raise him from a hatchling? Looks like he's enjoying his live free lifestyle. Haha.

Re: Sulcata

I didn't get him until he was around 1.5 years or so. I think that he was around 5" at the time. He's since grown to 22". He happens to be the same age as my daughter so we take pics annually... here's a sampling to show his growth over the last 6 years.

Re: Sulcata

Thanks all.

The tortoise experience is quite different from the snake experience. I generally prefer snakes but it is neat to have a large tortoise follow you around the yard hoping for treats.
