Re: White scales after shed

Thanks! I was only able to find one other instance of something similar, on a carpet python forum. They said the same thing, that it returned to normal after a couple of sheds. It’ll be interesting...

White scales after shed

Not sure if anyone knows what this might be. After my female Timor python shed last week there was a small area where the scales had turned white. They don't appear to be damaged, just like the...

Re: Timor Pythons anybody???

I have a pair, the male is about 7 feet long at 4 years old and the female is about 5 feet long at 2.5 years old. I'll try breeding them once the female is a bit bigger. I also know of another adult...

Re: Heat and humidity probe placement

This is a useful link, helped me when I was setting things up last year.

Re: Timor python update!

Thanks! They have some pretty incredible iridescence under natural sunlight. I'll try and get some better pictures when my female comes out of quarantine.;)

Re: Timor python update!

When I asked about musking before buying my male last year, everyone's response was along the lines of, "Do you mean urinating?" As far as I can tell, neither of my snakes have ever musked in the...

Re: Timor python update!

By musking I take it you mean farting hard and spraying pee and urates all over the place.;) Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Just make sure you've got a piece of kitchen towel at the ready...

Re: Timor python update!

I've only seen three available in the past year, and I bought two of them! ;)

They've also got a reputation for being a difficult species to look after, but I've found them to be quite easy if you...

Timor python update!

This month I finally bought myself a female Timor python, the same one I've had my eye on for the past 12 months. Here are a couple of photos showing how she compares to my male:

Name: Topaz....

Re: Frozen thawed question

When I contacted the supplier to find out what had happened, he asked me to repackage and return the thawed rodents. He wasn't at all apologetic, and it did cross my mind that he might want to resell...

Re: Frozen thawed question

After this experience, it wouldn't surprise me.

I've heard that leaving rodents out at room temperature is inadvisable as bacteria can multiply rapidly, so I usually thaw my feeders in the fridge...

Re: Frozen thawed question

Update on the above:
I contacted the supplier today and he told me he would send out a new order ASAP, and that I should dispose of the previously delivered rodents. Seems it was the mistake of the...

Frozen thawed question

I know that wild monitor lizards and other reptiles thrive on decomposing carcasses, but how about feeding your snakes with anything that isn't quite "fresh"?

I'm asking because yesterday there...

Re: Favorite BP morph?

Normals are hard to beat, the only morph I would consider buying is one of the leopard combos. Leopard spotnose or leopard spotnose clown (aka Batman) are my favourites.

Re: A/C is Out and Indoor Temps are Rising...

Good to hear your A/C is back on. I had a similar question a few weeks ago when I was worried about leaving my python by himself while I was away for the week. The ambient temperature in my room has...

Re: What’s everyone’s worst impulse buy

Glad I'm not the only one in this situation! I barely have enough space for my two stacked vivs, of which only one is occupied at the moment. Thinking very carefully about what's going to end up in...

Re: Summer

Thanks for the advice, but I don't know anyone nearby who'd be willing (or who I trust!) that could do it. I've left him on his own before for almost a week and he was fine, I was just a bit unsure...

Summer

I live in Japan, and now that the rainy season has finally ended the sun has come out and it's going to be hot for the next couple of months. In fact, it's forecast to be over 40°C (104°F) in some...

Re: How long to wait before feeding again?

I kept an eye on him for a few days and then he started to go into shed, so I skipped his next meal and fed him a smaller rat the following week after he'd finished shedding. I haven't handled him at...

How long to wait before feeding again?

Seeing as today was a nice day with a warm wind blowing, I thought I'd take my Timor python outside for some sun. He was fine for the first ten minutes or so, hanging out on a frame we use for...

Re: Reticulated Python Iridescence

From what I've seen, Golden Child and it's related morphs (Motley GC, etc.) seem to have the best iridescence. Maybe it's just easier to see on them because of the reduced background colour, but they...

Re: When is a python considered adult size?

Haha, that's what I thought. I suppose you could say that as long as food is supplied in an appropriate amount to promote growth but not obesity, then a healthy maximum length/weight will be reached...

Re: Which snake is this?

If it's the same snake that's on the video, then it's a Burmese python. Hope this helps!
