Capstone Exibition Project Name

Hi,

I’m currently doing a project on Herpetology for my school, but I need a name for the project. I want to change the current negative perspective associated with most herps, and introduce a...

Re: Bearded Dragon or Leopard Gecko?

Personally, I would like to see more bearded dragon breeders, the problem is both bearded dragons, and leopard geckos are bred to the point where there are too much of them. While I love both bearded...

Re: Hi all! New guy thinking about getting a crested gecko

Yeah you’re right, I don’t know what I was thinking at the time. Crested geckos/gargoyle geckos should never be in temps above 90’s. Regarding hotspot, I have seen keepers successfully keep them with...

Re: Hi all! New guy thinking about getting a crested gecko

First off, awesome first choice, Crested geckos are amazing. Personally I prefer gargoyle geckos because of their ability to regrow their tail. I’ll try to help you the best I can.

1. People...

Re: Corn Snake Has Hard Lump

That’s the one thing that makes me guilty studying to become a vet. I would feel bad charging people to save animals. I guess there’s also euthanizing animals, but I’m hoping saving them will help...

Re: New kingsnake owner with a few questions

Okay, that makes sense. I like that quote. My history teacher has, “you can’t believe everything you read on the internet, just because there is a picture and a quote next to it”-Abraham Lincoln.

Re: New kingsnake owner with a few questions

Yep Bandits right, grey banded kings stay a lot smaller, and they would do fine in that size enclosure, but I recommend a 20 gallon long. To be fair, you kind of just repeated everything I said.

Re: Looking to purchase garter snakes

Hmm... I didn’t know that, interesting. No those garter snakes aren’t adults, but I do agree they are expensive. I also am not too big a fan of BHB (because of Brian’s blogs, I find the clipart to be...

Re: Strange poop

I can’t see a picture, but if it doesn’t look like poop (look up snake poop), it probably isn’t. Just feed a smaller mouse next time, (there shouldn’t be a too noticeable lump), and be sure to give...

Re: 4 year old sand boa not eating

Keep trying every two weeks or so. It’s breeding season, and at 4 years old he’s definitely interested, which could put his mind off food. There is no reason to worry if he’s not losing weight.

Re: New kingsnake owner with a few questions

First off great first choice!

1. You don’t need it if the snake is eating rodents, but it won’t hurt the snake.
2. You’re going to want something bigger once it gets around 3yrs.old. (Though if...

Re: Looking to purchase garter snakes

I don’t believe there are such states, for garter snakes that is. I know there is a limit though. I could be wrong. Most states also have a online website that allows you to check what you can and...

Another reason to add on to this is, the copperhead snake is the most common venomous snake bite hospitals in the U.S. have to deal with. So if you live in copperhead territory, chances are they have...

Re: Starting off hot

If you want something to help with cobras, I heard king rat snakes have similar temperment to a lot of elapids. I believe if you have no snake expierence at all, you should at least start with a...

There are also specific reptile expos, dedicated to venomous reptiles, and dangerous animals. I’m not exactly sure how to get into one, but I know they exist. It would probably have to be in your...

Re: Help Please

No, you should use heat pads, just make sure to provide plenty of insulation with paper towles over the pad itself, or you can buy a reptile temp. Controller, which is more efficient.

Re: Rats, Ferrets and snake in the same room.

Makes sense, but captive ferrets are pretty docile, I’ve never heard of such an accident happening. I just don’t think it’s very likely. Additionally, As long as the cage is secure, there is nothing...

Re: Have a 80 gallon tank, need ideas!!

Another quick thing I forgot to mention is green anoles appreciate taller enclosures, so how tall is your 80 gallon? If it is 2ft, or more, it would be okay for them.
