Hello new guy here, gotta question about unknown species

So my brother was at a zoo in equador and saw this guy, I can't figure out what it is other than awsome and want one to add to my collection. He was told it is non venomous, looks kinda like a king snake but look at how pronounced the scales are and shape of the head

I can't help with ID, but definitely not a King. I'm curious too, now. Hopefully somebody who knows will chime in soon.
