Re: 5 Month Food Strike

Back again. Since she took the small rat on 28 May she's back on her food strike. That's ONCE she's fed since last December. I weighed her for the first time in a while (she's gotten really timid...

Re: Baby boa not eating

He's still settling into his new surroundings and getting used to his new environment and he needs time. Give him a full week with no handling or putting fingers on the glass before you try to feed...

Re: Beginner

Just my 2 cents. Ball Pythons are pretty docile and are considered pretty good beginner snakes. They come in multiple morphs if you want to spend a bit, or in their normal, wild coloration if you...

Re: 5 Month Food Strike

Ahhh, refresh my memory please...there's no danger if a snake eats their prey backwards right? I finally got Nagini to take a small (42g) f/t rat and she's swallowing it butt first...

Re: Lawn mowers and snakes

If you haven't positively identified these snakes as being non-venomous, please, please call a professional for removal services. It's not worth risking a cottonmouth bite!

Re: 5 Month Food Strike

Yes, she's on frozen/thawed.

I thought about going back to mice but I do not want to have to transition her back to rats again. FWIW, I did get her to take multiple mice on a few occasions...

Re: 5 Month Food Strike

I'm confused about going smaller. The 70-89 g small mediums she'd been eating before the food strike are smaller than her girth (they were leaving no visible bulge at all) and are less than 10% of...

5 Month Food Strike

Hello, I haven't been around in a while but I'm dealing with a 5 month food strike and I'm not sure how to get my snake eating again.

Nagini, my BP, was last feeding regularly and enthusiastically...

Re: Reptile Basics "Customer Service"

1. I didn't search online for the standard instructions because they were included with my device.

2. I read those instructions several times.

3. I scrolled through the menu on my particular...

Re: Reptile Basics "Customer Service"

Does anybody here know how to access the activation screen for the zone 2 controls on the VE-300X2? Second hand or not, I still paid a pretty penny for that device and I'd like to be able to use it...

Angry Reptile Basics "Customer Service"

Has anyone else had issues with the customer service at Reptile Basics? Several months ago I bought a VE-300X2 second hand from a local reptile dealer. Initially, I just had Jerkface's viv hooked...

Re: What snake between these two do you guys recommend?

I don't know why everyone thinks baby snakes need to be in small enclosures to feel secure. Hundreds of baby snakes hatch in the big, wild, world every day and do just fine with no enclosure of any...

Re: Zoomed repti rain help

I keep both my snakes in glass tanks with mesh tops. To cut down on humidity loss, I go to Wal-Mart and buy one of their stupid-cheap poster frames with the 4 separate rails. The side rails aren't...

Re: Boa help needed

With nothing in the picture for scale it's impossible to judge his size. Can you put a familiar object in the picture with him like a dollar bill or a golf ball or something?

Re: Hi - New to forum and to snakes

BRBs are not good beginner snakes. They have very high humidity requirements (95%+ for the first year), are very sensitive to temperature variations and are not very forgiving of beginner husbandry...

Hello all! It's been a while since I've posted a status update on my BRB, Jerkface and I'm happy to say the news is all good.

His feeding response has improved dramatically over the past...

Re: Can a Rat be unhealthy for a snake?

I don't know if the tumor will hurt the snake, but I'm pretty sure the drugs used to euthanize the rat will.

Re: Can a Rat be unhealthy for a snake?

I wouldn't. The drugs used to euthanize the rat will still be present in the tissues after death and could be harmful to the snake.

Re: New Baby jungle will not leave hide . New owner here

Your snake is still settling in and, if you fed 2 days ago, still digesting its meal. Both my snakes are slugs for several days after they eat. Give it 2-3 weeks to settle in and get used to its...

Re: Ball Python Suddenly Aggressive (please help)

Please don't leave your snake in a dark closet 24/7. They need a proper day/night cycle.
