Albino leo

I've had my albino for maybe a week or two. The question is though he's having kind of a prob eating. He's about 3-4 inches from head to tail. He eats but only like one or 2 crix or wax worms everyother day or so. I offer food every day though. He doesn't seem to be gaining weight. Sometimes he seems interested in the food sometimes he doesn't. He has plenty of hides, he's by his self, and the temps are correct. What could the problem be ? Thanks in advance.

is it wild caught and even if it isnt maybe he has parasites or something? And maybe the crix are to fast for him..maybe rippin off a leg or sommin will slow them down (the crix that is )

Try offering different food. Try mealies maybe some very small super worm. Wax worm should be offered as a treat, remember. . Maybe he's got some kind of worms. Just to be sure, Try to get a fecal and bring it to the vet.

Yup, get a fecal and offer some silkworms or waxworms to up his fat.

if not already try feeding him w/ the lights off or dimmed. albinos are sensitive to light and might not wanna 'hunt' w/ a light on

I usually feed in the night with the lights dimmed. I'll try and take it to a vet tomarrow. Its not wc thats for sure. He eats, but doesn't pig out like my other leo's did. Maybe he's still getting used to his new environment. Thanks for the replies though. Any more would be greatly appreciated.

He's probably just still settling in -- I'd give him more time before you start really panicking It never hurts to have a fecal done on new additions though... and try offering a variety of different bugs... maybe he's just picky

Thank you, Clownfishie, I was about to type that but then I saw your post... =/ You are absolutely right... he's only had the gecko for a few weeks.

Stretch, try offering worms every other day instead of everyday, and offer them towards the early evening, (as suggested above). Make sure that your leo is warm enough to digest, and be sure not to put too many insects in it's enclosure at a time, as this will usually intimidate younger geckos.

Good luck, I hope we've all helped you. If your leo continues meandering through it's meals, consult a vet and have your leo checked for parasites.
