Re: Profile: Serophina :)

Instead of creating a new thread, I thought I'd post this here since it is in regards to Serophina. She hasn't eaten in quite a while, and I thought it was because she had mites. I have since treated the mites, and offered her a rat weeks later. She wouldn't take it. So today I decided I would try again... And again, she won't take it. I'm not sure if there's the chance she has mouth rot or an RI. I haven't not seen any of the signs of an RI.. And her mouth hasn't been open long enoug for me to get a good look. I've never opened her mouth myself, so I'm not sure how to safely going about doing so. Anyone have some tips on that? I don't have anyone that could help hold her while I check on her mouth, so I have a feeling it may be quite a task. If I can take a look and I feel like there's something wrong, I will try to find a vet to take her to, but I dont know a vet that treats exotics in my area or how much a visit would be. Any advice that you guys have is appreciated. I've never dealt with a sick snake, so please don't bash me for anything I've said or have/haven't done. Thanks :/

I would check everything is okay with husbandry and then as long as you are ot concerned about weight loss or the snake losing condition the leave it be and offer food every ten days. It could just be breeding season fasting

Ah, okay! Thank you, Rob. I have had a few friends say that in winter they fast. I was just getting worried because it has been a while since she ate. She smells the rat several times and acts interested and then just turns away. I jist don't want anything to be wrong with her, so that's why I'm worried.
