I have been digging through piles and piles of old photos..
It gets depressing, so I take a break, find something pleasant to distract my thoughts...
It will be here.. I promise.
Our friend Kernel had to be exposed to a picture of chomp dying on another forum, that was upsetting too, because looking at that thrust it back in my face too when I posted it.

Re: Littlefoot's digs - day 3
I found that the tighter I sealed the cage, the more humidity it held without help.
Last night I turned on the cage lights and turned off the room lights, then I checked for leaks by light and found several hairline cracks, as soon as I sealed them down, the humidity went up a full 15% higher.
If any moisture is evaporating out into the room, it's of no benefit to the Monitor. Right now my cage is sustaining a 70% humidity level with the basking lights blaring and the dirt in there is staying nice and moist.

I was engaged in a debate about humidity, I shoved the picture out there to make my point, Kernel is just an innocent bystander who happens to be a member there too.

I have probably said this 100 times, but the cage is looking great. Every time you post new pics, it looks even better. Yea, were both members on 2 other forums and unfortunately I had to see that sad pic of Chomper during his final hours

Re: Littlefoot's digs - day 3
The cave openings are circled... I have till next week for those roots to bind together, once it grows into a solid patch of sod, he can dig a tunnel, but it won't hardly hurt that grass.

Re: Littlefoot's digs - day 3
you should leave the lights on for 18 hours a day and water daily-give them a lot of water and they should start rooting very deeply

Re: Littlefoot's digs - day 3
I just shoved the hygrometer into one of the hides for a reading. I will leave it in there for an hour and check it.
I have 10 seconds before it recalibrates, so that's plenty of time to read it.
The basking probe is in the second tunnel, so I can view the temps inside the caves too.

Re: Littlefoot's digs - day 3
Nice! are they set up so you can read them without entering the cage? If not you should make it like that
