I have a Yamaha WR450 (dirt bike) that has been supermotarded (17" wheels/tires, street legal). I just sold a Yamaha YZF-R1. I've had many sportbikes, starting with a 1992 Honda CB900F roadracer, then a few GSXR's ( 2 '86, '88,'90,'95, Track bikes all). First bike? Get a used dirt bike and learn to ride it well. Then get the SV, great bike, you won't outgrow it. I've ridden them on the track, they rock! If you are going for image, go ahead and buy a gixxer. They don't make good street bikes. They are designed for the track. They are uncomfortable on long rides. If you want to ride a gixxer like it was intended to be ridden, go to track days at a track near you. Otherwise, you will just end up another statistic. Or the owner of another trashed 'Zook (if you are lucky).

LMAO too true!! I already got my crash out of my system so hopefully I won't have another.

Managed to escape with a dislocated shoulder, a shattered collar bone, some bruised ribs and a little bit of scarring on my back... I became "cool" at the bike shop when I rode out on my bike 2 weeks later while still all strapped up

I am a super-human healer because I got a clean bill of health and was back in the gym lifting weights after only a month... the doc couldnt believe how quick my bones mended.

I have been riding since I was 6 years old........ I raced semi pro motor cross up until 5 years ago....... I still race quads on a pro/amuature level....... But not often anymore....... I am in the middle of building a chopper...... Hopefully it will be done by next summer......... I am a huge Harley Davidson fan........

Iguanakikembood, Im going to take a bike course before i get my bike. Im 98% sure that im going to get the SV 650, but my question is can anyone ride a GSX R for a first bike after training lessons and not get themselves hurt, as long as you respect what the bike can do........right? It seems that there are a lot of first time riders on racing bikes......or is that just me. lol
Thanks

-Steve-

I LOVE riding motorcycles. I haven't had the opportunity to ride in a few years. I'm going to try and get my bike liscence sometime in the next year or so. I started on dirt bikes and went from there. I would've preferred the last one I rode to be a Harley, but, when you're borrowing machines from friends, you can't be too picky.
