switching an Irian Jaya from mice to rats

Thankfully, my full grown male IJ is a voracious rat eater. This is the only snake in my collection that eats mice (35 snakes)

imo theres nothing wrong with her apart from being stubborn enough to hold out for mice

the fact she hammered 3 mice tells us that

if you want her on rats for as hard as it is you will have to persivever and hold out until hunger overtakes her mouse cravings

It's always a shock to people when they look in my freezer or happen to come over on a feeding day and there is a pail full of thawing rats lol It just seems normal to me. My little Gopher snake wasn't eating so I had so brain the mouse, my friend thought i was sick in the head lol

when u got my JCP he was being feed on mice an its taken months to get him on rats im at the point now where hes taking scented rats, i tryed alsorts. feeding rat im behind mice an he would know an spit back out, gerbils he would taken fine but hard to get hold of chicks would take fine but no real nutriational value. even chick an mice scented rats would get nose turned up at. ended up going for pretty much identical route as mentioned about chick heads but i just skinned the chick an wrapped it around rats head. hes been taking them fine now for a few months an has now started to take chick scented rats
